When people ushered in the Chinese New Year almost two weeks ago, this cappuccino tikoy or nian gao was something I was wanting to buy. It was commonly offered and recommended by those who were selling this at the Chinese food festival at the AMall.

I ended up just taking a photo of it before we left. It was just too big and the boys are not much into eating this so I decided to forego with the idea then and maybe just buy one some other time. I basically like eating tikoy or Chinese rice cake made from glutinous rice flour.

I remember that my Chinese classmates in college would treat us to free tikoy during Chinese new year. That was something we look forward to each year then. Well for now, I have found two suppliers who sells this cappuccino tikoy and I can just drop by their store anytime perhaps when I want some of this cappuccino tikoy.

This is the Morrisons Apple Squash Juice Concentrate that my mom sent to us from the Christmas package that my dear elder sister sent to us from UK. This is really sweet. At first I thought I could just drink it as it is even a little and I did not know that it was juice concentrate so you could imagine how sweet this tasted when I drank it straight without adding any water. Only a little of this for a glass of water will do for me but I was late to know that.

It is delicious and it is the first time that hubby and I have tasted anything like this with squash. I could not actually point out the taste of squash int his juice concentrate. It is more of strong sweet apple taste. the label says no added sugar from this concentrated apple juice drink with sweeteners. Yes it is kind of too sweet for me but I think my sister liked this that is why she sent this to us for us to enjoy drinking it as well.

This should have been our “wine” during New Year. There is still a few left of this since I don’t drink this anymore than hubby does once in awhile.

Anyway, she knows I am a mom and most probably more practical when it comes to choosing a gift for a baby girl. I did not forget to suggest as a mom we appreciate something that is more of a personalized gift since the mom of the baby is a close friend of hers since college.

Speaking of personalized gift, I might as well find a belated personalized gift for my dear little boy. He did got a gift which he chose himself last Monday, a day after his birthday but I would wish to get him one more. It is a secret for now until hubby decides to go with my plan in mind for that personalized gift.

Thinking about that vacation house, I remember a month ago, my friend shared a photo of that lovely house they are going to spend their holiday in. It has those log bedroom furniture that I wish we could also have for my folks to use at home. They love and appreciate the log furniture. My folks are not much into modern furniture stuff so I know they would want that in case we push through with plans before to build some sort of a small rest house on the vacant lot next to our old home. I guess we will remind them of that plan when we get to visit them during our lil boy’s Christmas vacation.

Christmas at Max’s

Found this Christmas themed paper place mats of Max’s to be simple yet nice! It comes in colors red and green too. They may not have much decors in their store but with the words “Sarap kapiling ngayong Pasko” written in the center of their Christmas paper mats, this serves as an invitation to Pinoy loyal customers to dine at Max’s with the family and friends this yuletide season.

The Christmas tree that hubby and I saw at the VP Mall three weeks ago while we were scouting for affordable new decors. I wish we could have a budget for this. Just thinking and wishing if we could have a different tree this year, I’d get something like this. The VP department store has tree designers that you could hire. But for me I could not afford them because we are on a tight budget right now. Maybe I am just going to find new transparent lights and fill up our tree with so many lights. I like a tree of lights and not much on Christmas tree decors.

As with the supermarket, I saw some store merchandisers busy arranging their point of purchase displays to showcase their products for one section of the supermarket dedicated for Christmas food items and other stuff. By next month after the All Saints Day holiday, I expect to see more Christmas stuff on display. It would start to get tempting to do some early Christmas shopping. I just hope that financial blessings will pour in to meet that among more important things.

Time flies and the weekend just flew past by to be honest. It’s a little past midnight of Monday here already. It seems like it was just yesterday when I started my 100 days countdown to Christmas. Are you ready for Christmas? I want to save up so much for the holidays. I am praying financial blessings will pour while praying for good health for me, my boys and my family during the holidays.

I remember our health concerns last year. I don’t want any repeat of that so I have been seriously praying for good health all through our lives which could be one of the greatest Christmas gift and blessing that will be granted. I will continue to pray each day for good health and blessings to my family and to all.

I was actually thinking of having a kid’s birthday party at a popular fast food chain in town since our own lil boy would love the idea as well. He has attended a birthday party there and we saw how happy he was. That gave me an idea I wanted to realize is that we will have a simple birthday celebration getting their simplest birthday package. I wonder my sister will be up to this idea. But am sure the kids will love to have a party even if it’s just a simple birthday celebration.

I know when we got married he became so practical. But any wife or mother would truly appreciate getting those special treats from their hubby especially on special occasions. I could even tell hubby where he can buy and send those beautiful flower arrangements and gifts online for anniversary, birthday, or any other special occasion like Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day. Most floral arrangements could truly bring beauty to our home and it could also brighten up my day big time!
