The little boy has missed soccer classes. Not because he was absent but because last Friday was a local holiday, then Tuesday the coach was sick according to the kids in school or out of town based on the text notice sent by the school. Then next Tuesday is another holiday. Three missed soccer classes already. The school has not replied when I asked if there would be make up class even just for the one day that the coach was not present (not because of the holidays because those are beyond the control of the school).

Not much on the cost of money we pay for the class but the value of time that the kids could learn and practice soccer more is valuable for us parents too.

He gave us a hint early this afternoon when he shouted, “Let’s play!” I thought he wanted to play soccer or badminton in his room. But he actually meant going to the mall to play this weekend.

I was not really up to going to the mall where we are almost always going to when we decide to go malling. I wanted to do something else next time. Maybe play soccer, badminton or our old time fave sport of ping pong which we often play as kids with my siblings together with our daddy. I miss playing ping pong or table tennis as some would call it. This game when played with my only brother years ago would often end up like some kind of tennis played on a table.

The boys and I have not played table tennis together yet. If we won’t be playing soccer or badminton then we’d go for table tennis then. And I say, “Let’s play!”

I used to remember my dad likes to watch those wrestlers on TV decades ago. Who does not know Hulk Hogan? He even came out recently as a guest at the American Idol.

Anyway, at one point I was introduced to it as a sport that one can do. I used to watch a show all about sports that featured this as an elective class and sport in some of the universities in the country. It gave me a different point of view of wrestling as a real sport and not just a show or entertainment on TV.

I even get to remember now as I write this that my high school classmate had friends in college who took part of wrestling as a sport in their school. Most were men but there are a few women too. It was physically challenging and not something I am personally up to. I was too thin then also. Who would have a skinny wrestler? It is actually good to look at wrestling as a sport and not just for entertainment. You may even want to try it out. Let me know!

It was a fun day outdoors for us today! What we thought was just for us especially the lil boy to watch the soccer/football training in the city, he was able to participate in it actually. Plus it was free!

I am glad that we were able to know about this soccer training here in our city through the site FutbolPH.com. The so-called FIFA Grassroots Pro-Active Course was a great opportunity for our son to enjoy the game and have a chance to have a few hours of FREE training in soccer/football through various soccer coaches in the city. I really hope that there would be more activities such as this in the near future. It is a great initiative to encourage more kids to get to play soccer and to be in sports rather than doing something parents don’t want them to be involved in.

<script type="text/javascript"

It was fun seeing our lil boy enjoying playing soccer on the field with far more trained kids. He was even excited to see other schoolmates there and was happier to see their coach there too mid morning.

Our lil boy just started playing soccer last summer as part of their summer class. And he tried out for soccer varsity in their school last week and we will definitely enrol him in the elective class. There will be more fun outdoors for him playing soccer at the small open field in their school. At the same time, we look forward to more acitivites we could join in inter-school or city wide soccer activities.

Our neighbor, a teenage boy got injured last month after a game of basketball with his friends in school. He is healing well though he still needs to wear a basketball knee support to lessen the tremendous impact on his injured knee. he loves basketball so much and he is known to be a good and promising basketball player in his school.

He was even told at one point to stop playing until the injured knee is completely healed yet for the love of basketball, he wants to play still. If he were my child, I’d probably try to convince him to rest more first from playing but sometimes kids want to have their way and some all for the love of basketball.

That’s what the little boy told hubby and me when he saw what looks like an atv power steering vehicle on a travel TV show where they made a feature of one of the local tourist destinations in the city. I actually wanted to try out the ATV ride in one of the resorts in the island facing the city which is just a few minutes away actually through boat ride. It is summer and it would be great to have a summer adventure outdoors.

The little boy’s summer class ended today so we only have soccer class for the rest of the summer and it is not everyday anyway so we can plan a day trip to the island and who knows I will find the guts to ride the ATV. It will be an adventure for me or more of a challenge perhaps. I am sure when the little boy sees it, he will tug at his dad and say “Let’s ride!”

The little boy seem really interested in playing it for now. But we are not sure if he just wants to watch them play the game or he really wants to join the class. I wonder if they would still accept him.

Anyway, we could play soccer with his cousins during weekends or when we have gatherings at my sister’s place. Speaking of soccer, I bet the little boy will love those personalized soccer balls I saw which are customizable including team colors, text, logo and/or photo. We used to buy before a few mini balls too for basketball plus those soft balls that you could squeeze in your hands that looks similar to those mini soccer balls in the picture which I know he will love to have.

The little boy was watching The Backyardigans for the nth time for the nth day actually! Yes it has become a part of his daily routine and now he is watching the episode about the game of soccer. He actually loves to watch the other kids in school play soccer and maybe he got that interest too watching and hearing about it in this cartoon show. Now I could hear him saying “Grrrrrr soccer!” since that episode involves the charcaters turning into monster soccer players when they play the game. Seriously, hubby and I are thinking about enrolling him in soccer since he likes to watch kids play in school after his class.

What to give to a five year old? That was something that I have been asking myself since yesterday morning. I wonder if he would love getting one of those personalized baseball bats among those personalized gifts that I found recently which are usually given as gift, souvenir, reward or thank you gift to athletes in one’s family.

This little boy likes sports somehow but not really into the real baseball game though. But I used to see him showing interest in the game when he would see it at the sports channel in the cable tv before. Other than the bat, I may have to find another option of what to give as a birthday gift. I may have to ask my sisters for any other suggestions.

Treadmill or stationery bike? That was a question posted by a friend and old classmate of mine way back grade school asking friends for opinion, suggestion or advices on which to buy. She wants to buy one of those exercise equipments to help her in her goal to diet and lose weight. I have to agree with one of those who commented that whichever she gets to buy, the important things is that she has to really use it to its potential. I have a treadmill given by hubby during last year’s mother’s day but I don’t get to use it often. So I think my friend has the will to use regularly whatever she decides to buy. On the other hand, I can tell her to check nordic trac which has a sale currently on a lot of their highest rated exercise equipments and machines and they are giving out an additional 5% off the sale price to go along with their great sale. This is valid for web orders only though.
